DEGREE OF PROTECTION
The resistance offered by the fixture for the penetration of solids and liquids is indicated by the prefix IP (Inter- national Protection) followed by two numbers. The first one identifies the degree of protection against the pen- etration of solids; the second one specifies the degree of protection against the penetration of liquids.
